Laugh.

It seems kind of silly that this is something I have to remember to do, but it is. I need to remind myself to laugh. We all know life gets busy. We rush around all day and still feel like we didn’t get anything done half the time. But having a healthy dose of humor can make a stressful situation so much easier.

Lately I’ve been laughing at my crazy expectations. I’m an optimist and I believe in myself, but that can sometimes set me up for disappointment. When real life gets in the way of my perfectly laid plan, it’s tempting to see myself as a loser, which I do sometimes – tell me I’m not the only one!

But it’s sooooo much better to chuckle and say, “Wow! I didn’t expect that curve ball!” So much of what we deal with isn’t anything we chose or could have avoided. It’s life. It’s part of some grander plan to shape and mold us into an emotionally buff goddess of experience with all sorts of stamina. We get stronger with every adventure, especially the ones we didn’t choose.

So the next time you feel like crying, try laughing instead. Try chuckling at the universe’s surprises for ya. Or better yet, try giggling more often in general. Do fun things with your loved ones (or your enemies!) Spend a moment making a silly memory. It will help you feel more chill, grateful and humble. It will keep you relaxed and ready for whatever comes next whenever it comes.

They say laughter is the best medicine. I’m going to try harder to make sure I take my daily dose.
