Super Strawberry-Pineapple Shake!

I’ve had some requests (and an inner desire) to post more recipes that have helped me take care of myself and my family!  Eating well has been a key part of overcoming my depression and lack of self confidence.  When I eat well I’m treating myself well, which means I can treat others well.

This might seem like a simple recipe, but simple is GOOD.  Simple is easy to take on.  Simple is easy to maintain.  And eating well, to me, should be that- simple.  So to keep things REALLY simple, I actually eat this almost every day for my breakfast…

Here’s my recipe for Super Strawberry-Pineapple Smoothies.  (I considered calling it SIMPLE Strawberry-Pineapple Smoothies but I feel so SUPER after eating this, it just had to have “super” in the name!)  I honestly make better diet choices all day long when I start my day (no matter the hour!) with this shake.  And yes, you can call it a shake instead of a smoothie if you want to. 🙂 I like to because then I remember I’m eating something healthy and delicious at the same time.

Super Strawberry-Pineapple Shake

INGREDIENTS
1-2 cups Frozen Strawberries (use more if you like it thicker, less if you like it thinner)
1 cup Canned or Frozen Pineapple
1 Banana
1/2 cup Pineapple Juice (from the can is fine- I can usually make 2 smoothies from a can)
1/2 cup Water
1-2 tablespoons Ground Flax Seed (optional)
1-2 tablespoons Vanilla Protein Powder (optional)

DIRECTIONS
Mix it all up in a blender and enjoy!

Do you have to use canned pineapple?  Nope.  Frozen pineapple is delicious!  I just try to have some staples in my diet that I can make from my food storage.  If you go with canned pineapple be sure to get it in 100% unsweetened juice.  We don’t need any added sugar in this delicious fruit!

Best of all, drink it out of an inspiring mug!  This is mine.  “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”  Amen!  Here’s the whole recipe in a photo for easy saving, Pinning and reference!

I usually have enough to fill my mug twice, and then put a little extra left overs in the fridge for an easy, mid-morning snack.  Simple.  Sweet. Delicious.  I hope you give it a try and it helps you get your day to a great start!  Smoothies didn’t used to fill me up.  But little by little, my body has become accustomed to better eating and now they do leave me full, energized and satisfied.  So give it a try and eat something new!
